It is the sensible choice for students, families and anyone upgrading from an older iPhone who wants smooth scrolling and solid cameras. Buyers who need optical zoom should step up to a Pro model.
What to check before you buy
- eSIM only: US and Canadian iPhone 17 units have no SIM tray.
- Unlocked vs carrier: “unlocked” in the title is not enough; ask the seller to confirm it is not tied to a carrier or financing plan, and check the IMEI on the carrier’s or Apple’s coverage page.
- Do not confuse it with the iPhone 17e or iPhone 17 Pro; check the model name and screen size on the box.
