Description
November 2026 marks the arrival of the first MacBook Pro built around an OLED panel. Apple calls it the PROLED XDR Display: a tandem OLED screen with touch support, a smaller Dynamic Island in place of the notch, and a thinner, lighter chassis than the mini-LED 16-inch. Inside, it uses the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips introduced in March, so the main reasons to choose it are the screen and the design.

Who it’s for
HDR video editors, photographers who grade on the go and anyone who spends all day looking at a laptop screen will notice the deeper blacks and higher peak brightness. If you never use the touch features and work mostly in standard dynamic range, the mini-LED 16-inch with the same chip is a cheaper route to the same performance.
What to check before you buy
- Since this model is brand new, check that the listing title says PROLED XDR and not Liquid Retina XDR; both share the M5 Pro chip.
- Expect early listings from resellers; prefer sellers with a long feedback history and a clear return window.
- Confirm whether the unit has the standard antireflective glass or the optional nano-texture finish.
- Ask about keyboard language and charger, and confirm the box is sealed.
- Run through our safe eBay buying checklist before paying for a high-value laptop.
