Description
The JBL Charge 5 is one of the most popular rugged portable speakers: loud for its size, rated IP67 against water and dust, and able to charge your phone from its built-in battery. This listing is a new unit in grey.
Why it stands out
- IP67 rating: it can handle rain, pool splashes and sand.
- Built-in power bank to top up a phone over USB.
- PartyBoost lets you pair it with compatible JBL speakers for bigger sound.
- Long battery life for a day outdoors (the brand rates it at up to 20 hours; real use varies with volume).
What to check before you buy
- Make sure it is the Charge 5 (not an older Charge 4) and that the seller lists it as new and sealed.
- Check for a US or Canadian charger cable and the seller’s return policy.
- Compare with the newer Charge 6 if you want USB-C audio input.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wants one speaker for the beach, camping, the backyard and the kitchen. If you want room-filling Wi-Fi sound at home, look at a Sonos speaker instead.
