Description
Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max sits at the top of the mini-LED Pro range. Released in March 2026, it replaced the M4 Max version with a new 18-core CPU built from six super cores and twelve performance cores, a GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core, and storage that starts at 2TB instead of 1TB. Wireless also moved up a generation thanks to Apple’s own N1 chip.

Who it’s for
This is the machine for colorists, motion designers, 3D artists and developers running large local AI models, people who keep the GPU busy for hours. Someone who mostly edits photos or writes code will be well served by an M5 Pro model instead.
What to check before you buy
- Make sure the listing says M5 Max and states the GPU core count; the 32-core and 40-core versions look identical from the outside.
- Ask for the exact part number and memory size, because configured-to-order units with more memory or storage are common on eBay.
- Check the keyboard layout (US English, Canadian French or another language) and the type of power adapter included.
- Confirm the box is factory sealed and that the serial number shows an unactivated warranty on Apple’s coverage check.
- Buying from Canada? Read our guide to buying on eBay from Canada for duties and shipping before you commit.
